Rotor Test Bed is one of the essential equipments in the process of helicopter development and test. The establishment of Rotor Test Bed boosted the development of helicopters greatly. Electrical AC drive is adopted as the drive system of Rotor Test Bed. This article first analyzed the characteristics of the rooter loads in the Test Bed, thus worked out the power requirement for the drive system. After that, considering the drive equipment intended to use, it established the simulation model of "Speed Regulation System based on Vector Control + Helicopter Rotor Load" with MATLAB, which analyzed the feasibility of applying electrical speed regulation system to drive helicopter rotor loads. Second, the article analyzed the control method of the three-level inverter used in the simulation model, with introduction to a novel double hysteresis band current control method, and compared with the traditional hysteresis band current control methods from the angle of switching frequency. The results of the simulation proved the correctness of the theoretical analysis. Further more, the main object of this project is to set up a remote monitor and control system for the drive system of the Rotor Test Bed. Employing the latest Field Bus Technology in the process automation field, the article integrated the PLC, converter, computer with PROFIBUS DP network, and realized the real time monitor and control of the drive system. The Siemens PLC product (Step 7) and industrial software product (WINCC) are used to design the logic control programs and the monitor-control interface separately. Cooperated with the engineer from Siemens Germany, we make the drive system of the Rotor Test Bed meet all the technical requirements. The control system of it performs stably and reliably, and wins high commends from the investors of the project.
