Nowdays, it is very popular that concrete filled steel tubular (CFST) column and steel beam joint with stiffening ring is used in civil engineering construction of our country. But people often regard it as absolute rigid model or ideal hinge model when it comes to choose the calculation model of joint, which is out of accord with practical situation in civil engineering construction. On the base of introducing research on the stiffness of CFST column and steel beam joint with outer stiffening ring made by paper[41],this paper makes research on the stiffness of CFT column and steel beam joint with inner stiffening ring by using finite element analysis(FEA) program ANSYS. By analyzing the stress, strain and deformation of joint, it comes to conclusion that the destroy of joint is ideal and plastic hinge is formed at the end of beam under the load acting on the column and beam. Analysis indicates that there is relative rotation between the beam and the column of the CFST joint with inner stiffening ring under the load acting on the beam. The rotation varies with the load. The most important factor influencing the stiffness of the joint is the height of cross-section of beam while the thickness of the web plate hardly has any influence on the stiffness. The M-θ model of the CFT joint given by this paper can be used in practical design.
