The transmission of loxodrome normal circular-arc bevel gear is a new kind of gear drive. It has many merits, such as high contact strength, large bearing capacity and low error sensitivity. Besides those merits, its prominent virtues is that the aptness to be controlled easily and convenience to process. At the present time, the research on this gear dirve is not sufficient. In this dissertation, the driving error and the change of contact area of gear pair are analysed with computer emulation. This method avoids the inconvenient process of conventional analysis and increases the efficiency.Starting with the basic conceptions of differential geometry, the general principle of loxodrome normal circular-arc bevel gear transmission has been systematically studied. With the principle of minimal orientation-distance, the question of finding instantaneous mesh point is converted into minimum value between two gears in the final motion. On the basis of it, the mathematical models of driving error and contact point are set up, then the emulation algorithm is put forward and the program is worked out. With this method, the driving error and the change of aptness are analysed on the condition of gear geometrical error and erection error, and the driving error curves and contcact areas are plotted. At last, the tooth profile is measured and the errors in tooth profile and aptness are evaluated by three coordinate measurement machine. The result of the operation experiment of gear contact area and the simulation result are coincident approximately, and it indicates that this form of transmission has satisfactory full-contact-zone and this emulation method is correct and feasible.By this emulation method, the driving error and aptness of loxodrome normal circular-arc bevel gear on the condition of errors can be analysed effectively. The analytical method is not only fits to the gear pair in this dissertation but also fits to any gear pairs by expanding.
