The thread of this paper is seismic design of R.C. frame-shearwall structure high-rise dwelling houses with special-shaped columns and rectangular columns. Base on research achievements of predecessors, the paper gives a brief summary of seismic design method of this kind of structure. Elastic and plastic time-history dynamic analysis and push-over analysis of several examples is given in this paper. Compared with the calculations, some conclusions are given in the end of the paper. Considering the safty and applicability and endurance, the paper hold that R.C. frame-shearwall structure with special-shaped columns and rectangular columns is the best plan of high-rise dwelling houses.Premise to the reasonable architectural plan and structural plan, to build 10~15 storey high-rise dwelling house with special-shaped columns and rectangular columns in the eight degree anti-seismic fortified zone is feasible.Push-over analysis is employed as a simple and effective tool for the assessment of structural seismic capacity. It is being gradually put into practice in China. This paper presents a concise introduction to the push-over analysis with several examples and discusses its further research trend and contents.
