In recent years, with the development of special-shaped column structure in the country, A lot of scholars has proceeded in research of special-shaped columns. But regardless of experimental or simulation studies, the majority considered only the horizontal component of ground motion. Studies have shown that ground motion includes not only the three translational components, there are three rotational components. In this paper, ANSYS software is used to establish a special-shaped column framework model, and research the seismic behavior of special-shaped column structure undering multi-dimensional seismic action considering rotational components.Firstly, make program using MATLAB software and obtain the rotational components of Wenchuan wave and EI-Centro wave through transforming the translational components based on the elastic wave theory.Then the paper establishes finite element models using ANSYS software. Through modal analysis of structures, analyse and compare the natural period and vibration modes of different structures. Input only translational motion component, two translational motion components,two translational motion components and torsional component to the above model separately and carried out the elastic-plastic time-history analysis .By analyzing the maximum displacement of different cross-section shaped columns , maximum story drift of structures, time-history curve, axial force, shear force, bending moment and other properties, research the seismic behavior of special-shaped column structure undering multi-dimensional seismic action, compare the seismic performance of different forms structures, identify the most adverse components and weak parts of structures undering multi-dimensional seismic action.Calculate the equivalent plastic strain of the structure using ANSYS software, analyse the structural elastic-plastic performance. Through drawing the force - displacement hysteresis curve of the structure, analyse the energy dissipation mechanism and seismic behavior of the structure.The results show that the trend of translational component time-history curve and torsional component time-history curve are consistent. The response of frame structures is different in different seismic waves, but in general multi-dimensional seismic wave has larger seismic influence on frame structure than only translational component. in which the seismic influence of multi-dimensional seismic the"L"column is the most obvious compnent, and the bottom of structure is relatively weak, thus designing the special-shaped column structure should be considered.
