Special-shaped columns are usually referred to as RC columns with sections T, +, L and Z. Special-shaped columns frame structure is a characteristic structure form in Chinese building project structure field. This structure especially fits the urban multistored buildings and small tall buildings with the characteristics of no indoor edges and small weight. The special-shaped columns with the ratio between limb length with limb width of the section smaller than 4 are usually applied to multistored buildings lower than 7 stores, while small tall buildings between 10 and 15 stores usually require the ratio between limb length with limb width of the members' section larger than 4. Whether the ratio is larger than 4 or smaller than 4, the columns' mechanics feature is the most important. On the basis of large quantity of scientific research fruits, the thesis further discusses the column's mechanics feature, the factors that influence the mechanics feature and load-bearing ultimate capacity etc. The main work of this thesis is:Make theoretical analysis and finite element test on the single free members and practical mechanics feature of the special-shaped column, and point out that the different binding force on the ends of the members leads to different mechanics feature. From the angle of large and small eccentricity compression bound failure critical condition of the compression and bending members, calculate limited values of axial compression ratio of the T, L section shape columns on various conditions through composed programs. Discuss the influence of the factors of section forms(different ratios between limb length with limb width), the reinforcement that adjusts the bellyband ends, and the existence of stirrup on the limited values of axial compression ratio of the T, L shape section columns, and draw the variation law of the limited values of axial compression ratio along with the variation of theabove-mentioned factors. Point out that the figure of shear span ratio has important effect on the section feature and mechanics feature of the special-shaped section columns. And finally draw the conclusion of the computing principles and methods on the load-bearing ultimate capacity of the special-shaped section columns.
