When we came into 21st century, the people pay much more attention to the conception of the space and type of the modern architecture than the feelings and what we really demand. At the same time of richness of material and spiritual live, the people are anxiously to communicate with others and to close to the society. To reach this demand, the atrium becomes more and more important. The application of atrium space design in the building is the multi-science field of gathering architecture, indoor view and sight into one. However, now in our country, the atrium space in the building is in the ascendant. This report has systemic conclusion and study to the atrium space design; hope can guide the designing of the atrium space. First of all, the report advances the systemic knowledge and definies to the conception of atrium space. Agrees that the atrium is the indoor courtyard with glass cover, it is the core of the big building, has multi-function, uses the nature element and intents to create a beautiful public area. Then, the report reviews the creation of the atrium and its development, and emphasizes the function of the sight of the atrium. The third chapter is the key of the report. Combining the examples, through the analyses of the space character and type, concludes the several key points of the atrium designing, and the indoor light, space color, scene and physical environment design as well. Thinks that the atrium has very good foreground. The foreground is not only in the single building as well as in the city designing and city space application. Through the analyses and study, expect to have systemic knowledge to the atrium space design, initially conclude the basic technique of the atrium space design.
