The hunman environment include building space and natural landspace, interior space and outdoor environment. Our government pay more attention on university construction and spend a lot of money, so Academic library's size constantly expand. Do college students still need learning as a study mode? Wether a large share space play advantages of symbiotic and exchange?The library atrium is a kind of vague transitional space, it can organize reader's activities orderly, such as learning, rest and exchange. It's natural and orgnaic can give us intimacy. This conception of atrium come from the traditional view of nature garden. In a busy school life, the atrium space meet the desire of students closing to the natural. The atrium space is interior space that it is the closest to the outdoor space.Garden culture heritage for thousands of years in our's traditional architecture. Atrium space is the history of precipitation, but also the crystallization of cultural evolution. Although the form of modern architecture fuse the West, but also China's traditional inward-looking sense of rotation space. Inheritance change and innovaion are pursued by the contemporary architect as design idea.In this paper, we find connection among interal elements of academic library atrium space, analyze and summary the functions and type of atrium space, investigate the relationship between the space environment and behavior, refine design elements of the atrium space environment, and prospect the future development of the atrium.
