The dedicated passenger line is characteristic of high-speed and safety because of separating from railway passenger and freight transportation. It is becoming important railway passenger transportation mode. The Qin-Shen dedicated passenger line is the first dedicated line in China with the highest operation speed (the experiment speed had been ever more than 320km/h). It is one of the representative engineering in history of railroading. To ensure the train safety, stability and passenger comfort in tune with the design speed once open to traffic, the Qin-Shen dedicated passenger line has applied new design standards, especially in bridges, the new design standards was more strict with settlement and settlement beyond construction of pier at bridges. So it is necessary to develop analytical technique based on reasonable theory and simplicity to calculate settlement and settlement beyond construction. The research production may offer useful parameter and experience in design for the similarity.The paper is based on the Qin-Shen dedicated passenger line's general test of tackle key problem in technology — the research of the settlement beyond construction of bridges and culverts (number:2000G48—E), it is the first research on settlement beyond construction of pile group foundation in railway vocation, singularly in other vocation. The main work of this paper includes: first, the thesis presents the development of calculating settlement of pile — group foundation and consolidation of clay at present; Second, the paper introduces the test locale and test content, including: the fact of soil at locale, disposal of deformation observation dot and observation data; Third, the thesis introduces the means that research group bring forward to compute settlement of pile group, the method was compared with current criterion. Finally, the paper introduces a consolidation theory calculating settlement beyond construction. The theory is based on one-dimension consolidation theory, the research group improve the theory with more reasonable presupposition. Settlement beyond construction was calculated and compared with actual data, they accorded with each other as a whole .
