Presently, sources water in the world have beening widely polluted . The removal rate of resolvable organics in micro-polluted source water by conventional treatment method is rather low, and chlorination can form Organic halide which will do harm to person.Tests show the biologic treatment technology isn't economical and effective, but also is security in toxicology. Biological Aerated Filter(BAF) biologic technology treating micro-polluted source water has small volume, hing dimension 1 oad , short h ydraulic r etention time ( HRT), h igh t reatment efficiency and effluent water quality, low investment and running cost etc. application potential of BAF in our country is very wide.Further study has been conducted to evaluate the performance of ZCBAF removing organic matters NH4+-N, UV254, turbidity in BAF and the built-up process with zeolite adsorption and BAF by pilot- plant experiments, furthermore, several factors considered affecting ZCBAF procss have been examined which are hydraulic retention time (HRT), Media height of BAF, water temperature , the air/water ratio , backwash and shut down of BAF . The test Results show that the performance of the micro-pollutants source water with ZCBAF is excellent, the average removal rate of CODMn, NH4+-N, UV254 and turbidity is 32.65% , 95.57% , 9.73% and 73.5% respectively at the HRT of 30 min ,air/water ratio of 1:1, water temperate of 1726°C. the air/water ratio and HRT have some effect on the removal of pollutants. Appropriate hydraulic retention time (HRT) has little influence on the effect of ZCBAF;The increase of media height of ZCBAF and water temperature can improve the removal effect of ZCBAF;ZCBAF has high capacity for shock load ;and short HRT . backwash and shut down for a long time of BAF has little impact on the removal effect of ZCBAF; Appropriate air/water ratio of ZCBAF is 1:1.
