The Research On The Regionality Of Resort Hotels

The resort hotel is a complex providing entertainment activities and comfortable environment for vacation tourists based on its natural or artificial landscapes, services and facilities. Recently, with the transition from the traditional sightseeing tourism to the vacation tourism in our country, the resort hotel is experiencing a high-speed growth. However, comparing with resort hotels in developed countries, most of resort hotels in our country cannot fulfill requirements of vacation tourists , which is caused by several reasons. Lacking regionality is one of the most important ones. The regionality of the resort hotel refers to the property the resort hotel can fit with the natural and cultural environment of the region it is located. The regionality of the resort hotel is consistent with both the motive of vacation tourism and the trend of ecotourism. Therefore, this dissertation set the regionality of the resort hotel and related design strategies as its subjects.Firstly, this dissertation analyzes the concept and features of the resort hotel based on requirements of the vacation tourism. It classifies the resort hotel as four types which include natural-landscape, theme-culture, sports-health and ecotype. Secondly, this dissertation analyzes the meaning of regionality in the resort hotel depending on the basic theory of regional architecture. Thirdly, it studies the effects of regionality on the resort hotel from three aspects, which are natural factor, culture factor and material and technology factor. Lastly, this dissertation studies on regionality in four types of resort hotels—mountain resort hotels, waterside resort hotels, theme-culture resort hotels and ecotype resort hotels.The purpose of this dissertation lies in three aspects. Firstly, it is to provide a comprehensive and objective analysis on reginality of the resort hotel. Secondly, it will be a valuable reference to the design of resort hotels in the future. Lastly, it will be helpful to later researches in this field.
