With the enforcement of significant strategic goal of develops in the west of china, the construction investment scale of highway will be increased continuously, especially in highway. In the west, because of the particularity and complexity of its topography and geological condition, it make a series of problem inevitably in the course of construction, soil slope lose steady and damage is one of these problem. With the unceasing raising of highway construction grade and scale enlarge continuously, deep slope will be more and more. Since fast developing and limit of project time , slope stability mechanism research relative lag, knowledge of this problem is still not very clear, theoretically lag serious have restricted the raising of project level.This paper have first introduced now domestic and international in slope stability research and consolidate punish level and develop tendency, put forward the importance and necessity of slope stability mechanism research. Then with research soil slope mainly, have discussed damage mechanism of natural soil ,it contains some factors that: ① stress aspect; ② strain aspect; ③ hole water aspect; ④ add payload speed and get force time aspect; ⑤ earth uneven and anisotropy. Through more complex factor above mentioned, explain that between soil calculation and actual situation ,there unavoidable exists discrepancy in much or few.Soon afterwards with trunk line of national highway in Yunnan from Zhaotong to Daibu ,select typical soil slope as object along line, have adopted Duncan- Chang hyperbola model, utilize FEA calculation method , dig respectively for the first layer of soil slope , second layer, third layer ,then compare stress and the displacement each layer of vertical and horizontal direction, then we can divide the mechanics behavior of soil slope into 3 stages: ① the rebound stage of dig; ② rebound and stress move stage; ③ stress move and overall movement stage. The damage of soil slope shape submit the approximate form of circular arc, overall destructiveness is more strong, deformed have significant influence to soil stability. And according to soil slope deformed mechanism of dig, have put forward measure of stabilize and consolidate to the soil slope.Final, on the foundation of preceding research, combinated actual project, analysised and compared some common factor affect greater to soil slope stability , carry out some suggestion for actual project.
