The Composing And Characteristics Of Roof In Vernacular Architecture Of YunNan

Under the condition of the different environment, socials cultures appreciation of beauty and custom, the skilled craftsmen and masses of different nationality in different area create the tradition skill on construction roof of vernacular architecture in Yunnan, which include rich experience and valuable wisdom.Following up the thread of the architectural history in Yunnan, this paper analyses the development of the roof in vernacular architecture. Author classifies the characteristic of the form and skill of the roof and illustrates the factors which affect its production. This paper makes a detailed study of the materials skills construction and artistic form of the roof on the basis of five forms of structure including the form of tailiang , the form of chuandou, the form of renzijias the form of banshis the form of miliang. At last, author explains the concept and significant of appropriate technology in present architectural situation of our county and illustrates the transformation and development of the traditional skill on constructing roof as example of the practical experience by China and foreign architects. By paying attention to nature and tradition, author suggests inheriting and developing the traditional skill on constructing roof and finding out the appropriate technology in Yunnan.
