With the development of vacuum roll coating equipment, it is more widely used in industrial areas, acquires increasing share of markets, and covers plenty of users. But the traditional production process of these kind of coating equipments is weak in time circle of new product development, which can not meet the requirement of "Users First, Rapid Reaction to Market" principle. This paper focuses on improvement of design scheme of vacuum roll coating equipment to meet the promotion of design efficiency and quality, shortage of time cycle of new product development, and decrement of manufacturing cost.A new intelligent CAD methodology of vacuum roll coating equipment design is proposed in this paper to avoid the fault of over-complexity, the tough requirement of personal design experience during the traditional design process.This paper focuses on the following works:(1) Intelligent design float process of vacuum roll coating equipment, construction of product development information system based on the PDM (Production Data Management), and overall structure of intelligent CAD system for vacuum roll coating equipment are given according to their specific structure and design feature of vacuum roll coating equipment.(2) Based on analysis of design character of vacuum roll coating equipment,design scheme of vacuum roll coating equipment based on intelligent CAD system is given, and module based on dividing layers is constructed.(3) Combined with specific example, object-oriented design methods are used to solve the problem in vacuum roll coating equipment design using C++. This realizes the representation of design knowledge of vacuum roll coating equipment and solves the combination of all kinds of knowledge during the design process of vacuum roll coating equipment.(4) Knowledge and cases-based mixed reason is proposed: detailed case-based reason and knowledge-based reason algorithm is given to analyze the function of the blackboard in reasoning under the specific example of vacuum roll coating equipment.(5) The concept and methods of parametric drawing are discussed: Auto CAD development based on OOD and Visual C++ is given to realize the parametric development of vacuum roll coating equipment. The developed system has been implemented using ObjectARX and Visual C++ in Windows environment and it realizes all the design process parameterization.
