This text introduces systematically: Simulation and finite element analysis of cross helical gear. The main content includes: How to realize by means of programming that gets points from the involute; How to use Pro/E software transferring the outside file to create the cross sectional shape of gear teeth of cross helical gear; How to carry on three-dimensional modeling and assembling of cross helical gear, and how to analyze with finite element method.The gear power transmission technology is an important branch of the technological sciences, the range of application of gear power transmission is extremely extensive; nearly involve each department of national economy. And the transmission of cross helical gear can transmit because of their sport of crossing two axles and power widely application neither parallel nor intersect. The helix angle is great generally that is close to about 45°, this makes the cross helical gear be under to three-dimensional stress state after it is received strength; and contact with point in theory when gears are engaging, this makes we must analyze the contact form before loading.At present, domestic and international research, intensity problem in gear power transmission it brings to be quite important status, traditional calculation can't already meet the demands , require us to set up the accurate three-dimensional gear wheel mode! and use such large-scale number value methods as the finite element ,etc. to analyze and check to the model. Through instance of cross helical gear the text provides the course and result of complicatedmodel modeling, simulating and analysis.Programming that gets points from the involute to may turn into the file available for PRO/E, then transferring this file into PRO/E to turn into the involute curve. Writing procedure with C language is better than drawing involute with Pro/E directly in expedience or at flexibility. Can produce *.ibl file conveniently after utilizing language programming of C, this file can be transferred and turned into the figure by PRO/E software directly.Produce the contour line of the terminal face of gear wheel form transferring the external file with Pro/E. Then, use such functions as scanning, mixing, array, etc. to produce the oblique gear wheel in Pro/E. These advantages of this kind of modeling way: Scan with Pro/ E, error little of individual gear teeth that can meet finite element mechanics analyze and design the need that is assembled totally, it is a kind of more practical method. And using the three-dimensional model setting up by Pro/ E can be connected to other analysis software very easily. Such as the connection with ANSYS software is convenient.Though ANSYS software has modeling functions itself, its function is not strong enough. So, it sets up data interface to connect with many kinds of CAD software, such as Pro/E, UG, AUTOCAD, etc...Through the interface, the model that Pro/E set up can be introduced ANSYS directly. Then we can mesh, load and do other process on the model. In meshing griddling, we have adopted an advanced method that the body is swept. It has produced the three-dimensional griddling of the hexahedron unit. This kind of method is suitable for some complicated three-dimensional entity's models. After meshing the griddling, we can analyze the stress and strain of cross helical gear to get parameters of stress and strain etc.
