With many highways constructed and more consideration putted on the project quality, the embankment which not only undergoes the weight from its own and the above structure, but also undergoes the vehicle load is a foundation as highway. In order to insure the project quality and enhance the using character of highway, so the studies on embankment settlement regularity are more and more important.In this paper, firstly, some theories such as the constitutive model of soil, the deformation trait of soil, the consolidation of soil and the constriction of soil are analyzed, then the application of the data process in embankment settlement prediction is presented. Secondly, some factors which influence embankment settlement calculation is studied, meanwhile some mathematical calculation models which predict embankment settlement and the methods of calculation are introduced.This paper is relies on the research of the test section of the embankment settlement of the highway around Harbin city, through analyzing the actual data such as total settlement and layered settlement, we master the actual deformation behavior of the embankment. The hyperbolic curve method and the exponential curve method are used to forecast embankment settlement of the highway around Harbin city, meanwhile total embankment settlement is calculated. Some embankment settlement regularities are concluded by analyzing the actual data and the theoretical data.Considering the shortcoming which exists in the locale where the embankment settlement data is measured, the present observation equipment is improved, the improved observation equipment can automatically finish measuring, conserving and transmitting data.
