At present, the research on compensating reactive power using static compensation device is one of the most active areas in power electronics subject . In this thesis, Advanced Static Var Generator(ASVG) is studied and analyzed deeply. The paper proposes design of an Advanced Static Var Generator(ASVG) Controller .The project is funded by Qingdao Power Industry . Co.Firstly, the existing compensation devices are compared and the superior performance of ASVG is analyzed. In this thesis, the compensation performance of ASVG is studied according to dynamic compensation theory. Secondly, the instantaneous reactive power theory and it' s application to reactive power control and detection are introduced. In addition, several typical control methods are summarized and their advantages and disadvantages are analyzed.In consideration of the character of ASVG for the reactive power compensation in power distribution system, the paper designs a new Advanced Static VAR Generator (ASVG) controller. The controller adopts TMS320LF2407A as main processor as it can compute and measure more quickly and accurately than traditional MCU. Meanwhile, In order to realize system's required function, the paper designs and realizes comparatively integrate microcomputer controlled circuit and its peripherals circuit, including sampling circuit, protecting circuit and communicating circuit. In addition, the paper gives the controlling software structure flow chart.At last, the simulation to ASVG system is processed and the result of simulation proved the correctness of the mathematic model and control strategy.
