Ultrasonic flow measurement is one of application technique in industrial measurement. Because ultrasonic measurement has not pressure loss, and it can measure erodent&insulative liquid, the unique features of ultrasonic measurement made it be applied to some condition, in which other measurements can not be used. With the development of electrical technique and wide application of MCU, some new methods will be brought out. That is to say, ultrasonic measurement has good development future.Firstly, the paper introduced the history, present status and trend of flowmeters. The theory and characters of ultrasonic flowmeters was explained, the reason for ultrasonic flowmeter was given. The paper brought out the main tasks of this project. Then flow transform and error analysis was introduced, and ultrasonic transducer was introduced in detail, some conclusion were elicited.Secondly, the principle of ultrasonic flow meter was introduced, and some comparison of measurement methods were made, a brand new measurement method-the multi-beams method was deeply discussed. It introduced the principles of emitting and receiving; also it introduced the principles and characteristics of this method in determining ultrasonic receiving point and getting time difference. Based on the theories of probabilities and statistics; Least-Mean-Square error method is brought to estimate time difference in the multi-beams method. In addition, ultrasonic transducer was introduced in its research and development.Thirdly, hardware circuit was discussed and designed in detail, some technical matters was deeply discussed , such as chip selection and parameters calculation, and software realization was all explained.At last, some conclusions were made, and ultrasonic measurement method was viewed. The later research aspect was brought forward.
