Urban water treatment plant is the important part of urban water supply system and is also a important infrastructure related to urban subsistence and development. High energy consumption is the most important character in the operation of this system.So how to find out what kind of energy consumption is effective and what kind of energy consumption is unavoidable, accordingly put forward some energy saving method and guide engineering practice. All of the work have important meaning for energy saving development in water plant.Based on essential principles of thermodynamical analysis, this research integrate working mechanism of various treatment units in water plant.Theoretic energy-balancing analytical model is established for various treatment units and the whole plant, evaluating approach for energy efficiency of water treatment plant is brought forward. As is instanced by actual engineering,this research analyses energy consumption for water intake pump station,water treatment units,delivering water pump station and the whole plant.Detailed work and major conclusion are as follows:(1) Energy consumption of four typical urban water treatment plant is analysed in virtue of chart. Energy consumption of various components in the treatment units is compared. From energy saving view, the component's type is recommended.(2) According to the theory of ting eddy,the energy analysis model for flocculating tank is given in the paper. Based on this model, the energy input for flocculating tank can be analysed and evaluated.The energy efficiency that is put forward by this paper can be used to scale energy consumption of the flocculating tank. The higher energy efficiency, the higher energy using index. The energy efficiency formula is:energy efficiency ηe=E effective/Einput= (G effective /Ginput) 2(3) In virtue of analytic research on filter, energy analysis model for filter is put forward. Further,the optimization of filter is carried out.For backwashing process of filter, energy analysis model is put forward. The comparision analysis of energy consumption between air-water backwashing process and single water backwashing process is finished.(4) In virtue of analytic research on characteristic of water intake pump station, energy analysis model for water intake pump station is put forward. This model is used to calculate and analyse energy consumption for before alteration ,after exchanging impeller and after adjusting speed comparatively. Accordingly the method for energy savingalteration of old water plant and optimization design of new water plant is put forward.(5) In virtue of analytic research on delivering water pump station, energy analysis model for delivering water pump station is put forward.The relation between varied coefficient of water quantity and energy consumption is analysed. Mending method for choosing pump is put forward. Several pivotal technic problem on adjusting speed is analysed. Further,we analyse energy consumption for before optimization ,after optimization comparatively. Accordingly the method for energy saving alteration of old water plant and optimization design of new water plant is put forward.(6) Gray box model for energy balance analysis in whole water supply treatment plant is put forward.In virtue of this model, energy loss for various treatment units and the whole plant can be ascertained,the reason for energy loss can be found out. Accordingly the method for energy saving alteration of old water plant and optimization design of new water plant is put forward. In virtue of whole consideration and producing test, example research on 2th water treatment plant in Suining city is carried out.The result indicate that electricity consumption after alteration reduces about 20 percent than before alteration.The effect of energy saving is evident.
