With the deep development of electric power network dispatching automation and pragmatist work, and the promotion of demanding for electric power network management in our nation, unattended substation had become necessary trend of the development of electric power network dispatching automation. Now, video inspect and control was used in all kinds fields more and more with the developing of video technique .In this paper, the basic methods of image processing and analysis. This paper deals with fire-prevention and watching-over image recognition through video surveillance system acquisition in the unattended substation, deals image acquisition with intelligent function, and its intelligent can effectively test illegal intrusion and fire protections, situations of disconnection link, oil leakage of transformer, and so on, and give warnings to alarm system. At last, the correctness and validity has been validated in omnibus programming between MATALB and VC++ software. Finally the paper discusses the advanced work in hardware and software to image recognition of the unattended substation.
