The urgent task for a thermal power plant is to improve its heat economy under the situation of competitive electric power market. The thesis focus on the 330MW coal-fired power unit of Mengda power plant, some systematic research is done on the subject of performance calculation and energy loss analyses from the points of theory and practice. First, the thermal economic performance index, mathematic models and calculating methods for a coal-fired power unit are analyzed respectively. A calculating model of its performance calculation and energy loss analyses is given. And, based on the local operating situations and needs of energy loss analyses. The expected values are determined by combining the design data, the performance test data and the data obtained from off-design calculating. Then the software of performance calculation and energy loss analyses for a coal-fired power unit is developed to use Visual Basic 6.0. A modular design idea is used for the software. It possess of performances of maintainability and expansibility. Finally, the performance calculation and energy loss analyses system for the power plant is realized on the 330MW coal-fired power unit of Mengda power plant.
