Aimed at the problems that the parameters match between the pump and engine, and the situation that we got the function of the excavator by wasting too much energy. So the pump-engine- combined control system is created in this paper. First of all, the parameters are matched among the pump, engine and hydraulic system. Second, the parameters self-adapting fuzzy PID control is used because of the complexity and difficulty in setting up the transfer function of the control system, and the advantage of the fuzzy technology. Last, the CAN bus is used to transfer dates coming from every node of single chip controller so that the dates can not interfered by the harmful elements. The aim of the pump-engine combined control system is saving energy and improving the hole function of the hydraulic excavator.The parameters-match of the excavator include two aspects, one is parameters match between the engine and hydraulic sets, the other is parameters match between the hydraulic components and their limited rotate-speed. The average full load of the excavator matches with the promised pressure of the hydraulic sets and the promised power of the engine in the parameters-match between the engine and hydraulic sets. The promised rotate-speed matches with the hydraulic components in parameters-match between hydraulic components and their limited rotate-speed.The angle-sensor on the pump-ramp gets the angle of the pump-ramp. The pressure-sensor at the pump-out-port gets the pressure of the hydraulic liquid. The temperature-sensor at the pump-out-port gets the temperature of the hydraulic liquid. The angle-sensor on the accelerograph gets the angle of the accelerograph. The rotate-speed-sensor on the shaft of the engine gets the rotate-speed of the engine shaft. All these parameters are transferred to the PIC18F458 by CAN bus and dilled with by the self-adapting fuzzy PID controller. The dilled temperature is displayed by the LED contacted with the PIC18F458, the others are sent by the CAN bus again to the corresponding nodes 83C552 and used by the their program.
