Parametric design can automatically modify relative parts of graphics mainly through editing some parts of dimensions. Thus dimensions can drive graphics, the geometry and topology information needed is automatically got by computer. Because of the application of Computer Aided Engineering (CAE) in the auto body design, it is possible to analyze, evaluate, and optimize the design without the prototype sedan and experiments. The application of CAE makes the idea such as Concurrent engineering advance greatly. The main task in the period of sedan body concept design is to choose the best structure layout between different ones and optimize main structural members by CAE so that the reasonable structural members size can be got. This period of design is not only flexible but also systematic and having a highly demand on finite element model. The structure parameter can refer to other models, but because of the difference between body layouts and shapes, in order to compare different structures and parameters, finite element method is used to control body structure parameters and performances and select the best project before the samples are manufactured. This article will create simple efficiency accurate parametric models of auto body structural members according to the characteristic of parametric design phase of auto body. ⅠCreate simplified beam unit FE model based on stiffness matrix The content of the article is based on prophase research of the simplified beam unit FE model based on stiffness matrix. Take framework unit in space as an equal section bar which revolt axes and tortile forces in the center of the section. If the origin of the local coordinate and the section center are superposition, the stiffness matrix is made up of two 2×2 and 4×4 junior matrixes.
