Roll-over protective structures are a steel structural system installed on construction machinery, whose primary purpose is to reduce the possibility of a seated-belted operator being crushed and reduce the loss of life and property by the greatest extent in the event of a machine overturning. With the export quantities increasing of construction machinery and the improving of safety protective performance requirements for them, construction machinery entered into the international market must be equipped with the ROPS of eligible performance, this makes the domestic factories that produce construction machinery and scientific research institutions improve the safety protective structures of construction machinery and make them obtain the international safety attestation by the means of protective structures test for making the road even of international export. In this case, this paper studies on the laboratory tests and theory for ROPS installed on the CLG series loader made by Guangxi Liugong Machinery Co.,Ltd, the main ideas of the paper are following: 1. Based on the newest ISO3471:1994 Earth-moving machinery─Roll-over protective structures ─Laboratory tests and performance requirements and ISO3164:1995 Earth-moving machinery ─Laboratory evaluations of protective structures─Specification for deflection-limiting volume, the laboratory tests have been performed on the ROPS of CLG856 wheeled loader made by Guangxi Liugong Machinery Co.,Ltd and the conclusion has been made that the ROPS of CLG856 wheeled loader meets the requirements of ISO3471.By the means of tests, the failure cause and several key problems which should be paid more attentions in the design are acquired. 2. On the basis of the theory of elastic&plastic mechanics, the nolinear finite element model of the ROPS has been found by using the finite element analysis software─ANSYS and the nonlinear analysis on the ROPS of CLG series loader has been performed according to the above standards.
