Wheel loader is a widely applied engineering machinery for its advantages ofmultifunction. However, accidents, such as turnover, always occur in application, andthe cab will suffer severe impact and deformation which will threaten the driver’s life. Therefore, safety design of the cab structure is a key process of the entire design for awheel loader. The ROPS&FOPS installed outside the cab is a protection instrumentwith a whole steel structure, and its performance will directly affect the driver’s safetyafter an accident. In recent years, with the increasing quantity of wheel loader exportand improving requirements for safety performance, loaders exported to thedeveloped countries, such as Europe, the United States and so on, must be equippedwith certified ROPS&FOPS. Under this background, Wheel loader’s ROPS&FOPSis studied based on theoretical and experimental methods in present work, and themain contents are as follows:(1) Based on the symmetric analysis of relevant international standards, the designprinciples on ROPS&FOPS are concluded. A control method, namely energyabsorption, is presented to deal with the lateral energy absorption of theROPS&FOPS in an accident.(2) The3-dimentional model and finite element model of the ROPS&FOPS areestablished. Based on the elastic-plastic theory, the load and anti-impactperformances are investigated by static and transient finite element analysis.(3) According to the international standards, the performance tests of theROPS&FOPS are conducted. The results verify not only the correction andfeasibility of the FE method but also...
