Chinese Landscape Painting and Chinese Art of Landscaping have Nature in the human idealistic form and environment from which the poetic flavor arises as their objects, vividly presenting the naive philosophical concept of Man' s Unity with Heaven/Nature.This thesis begins with the purpose of building gardens and the significance of creating landscape paintings and reveals the identity in them: emotions are conveyed through mountains and waters, and communication with the nature has to be made. The thesis elaborates historically on the strong emotions for mountains and rivers presented in the Chinese gardens: Chinese gardens and Chinese Landscape Paintings are closely interrelated with each other, no matter whether in Southern and Northern Dynasties when the natural mountain-and-water gardens and the landscape paintings independently developed or after Sui and Tang Dynasties when the natural mountain-and-water gardens developed into their stage of expressing human thoughts and feelings.This thesis stresses that Chinese gardens and Chinese...
