Discussion On Structure Design In Buildings' Renovation Projects

In recent years, buildings' renovation and strengthening projects have grown by leaps and bounds. Along with the improvement of people's living standard, the development of production skills and technology and enlargement of production scale, the previous sectional renovation and strengthening has now developed into a whole building and even into several related buildings.This thesis covers the issues of structure design which should be considered in buildings' renovation and strengthening projects with respect to buildings' function change, buildings' function addition (structure-adding on ground, storey-adding on building roof, interlayer-adding between stories, etc.)Concerning the storey-adding on building roof, the publications on systematic analysis and summary on steel structure to be adopted are seldom seen, notwithstanding its common use. This thesis covers the steel structure types, their performance and characteristics after connecting with the existing building structure, especially on analysis of the impact on the existing building structure by rigid connection and pin connection.Concerning the structure-adding on ground, the publications on structure design analysis of elevator-adding projects are seldom seen, notwithstanding many such projects in construction. This thesis demonstrates different elevator shaft structures and the dynamic performance after connected with the existing building structure, with much focus on the analysis of two kinds of elevator shaft and types of connection such as steel frame structure and reinforced concrete frame structure.Concerning trimmer beam, this thesis illustrates their common practice, analyzes the key points and in particular introduces the design analysis and construction procedures of the simple-supported steel beam to be adopted as trimmer beam.Concerning wall beam, this thesis gives detailed explanation on the technology of double-supported closed bracket, and by comparison analysis it summarizes its merits and the points to be improved.
