The area of the middle and lower reaches of Liao River is considered as the most developed one with the production base of steel, machine, chemistry industries and the main crop production base in Liaoning Province. The serious deposition in the river bed and frequently occurred flood at the middle and lower reaches of Liao River have become the important reason of the flood prevention safety of the watershed. Therefore, the project of the problems of the channel training plan of the middle and lower reaches of Liao River is chosen to study in the thesis in order to supply the reference to the flood prevention plan of Liao River watershed. The research will be helpful to lift the level of the channel training plan of Liao River.The basic outline of Liao River watershed is introduced in the thesis. The existing problems of channel regulation at the middle and lower reaches of Liao River are discussed. The condition of the coming water and sediment of the river and the reservoirs influence on the condition of the coming water and sediment are analyzed systematically. According to the measured hydrologic data, the channel evolution law of Liao River is studied by applying the principles of river bed evolution knowledge. The training works measures at the middle and lower reaches of Liao River is discussed. The training discharge, training width and planed training alignment are study. Based on the collection and analysis of the data of the coming water and sediment before and after the established Liupan Lock, the characteristic of tidal flows, and water and sediment diversion, the reasons of the channel evolution of the upstream and downstream reaches of Liupan Lock are analyzed. The concrete measure of the deposition prevention upstream and downstream the Liupan Lock is put forward. It is to improve the dispatching mode of the lock, reasonably choose the chance to discharging water to scour river bed. Assuring the water supply for the use of industry and agriculture basically, the lock is opened during the tidal fall in the flood season, with the discharge more than 400m3/s and time of water release as longer as possible, the better effect of channel scour can be reached making use of limited water.
