The technique of ground penetrating radar (GPR) is a high-tech technique for examination, which has a lot of advantages such as high degree of accuracy, non-stop operation, non-destructive, economical, rapid survey, audio visual and so on. We can identify abnormalities in object interior with GPR by transmitting electromagnetic waves of high frequency to object interior and receiving the backward waves.This thesis first introduces the history and the state-of-the-art of GPR technique, and its application and study for the engineering, and then explains the feasibility and essentiality of applying the technique of GPR to subgrade abamurus quality inspect. Based on the harvest of locale examination. Studying the characteristic of radar pictures of different kinds of subgrade abamurus information, and it has been put forward that the computer algorithm to pick up the subgrade abamurus information automatically. Additionally, based on the computer algorithm proposed previously, the author makes a radar data processing program that would be practical for inspecting railway subgrade abamurus by ground penetrating radar. The program solves a series of problems existing in data processing for geological radar inspect of railway subgrade abamurus, and which has been used to the data processing of actual railway subgrade abamurus inspect project.
