Gravity dam is the main style of the hydro junction constructions in our country and anti-sliding stability of the dam foundation is the key problem in the project all the time. Among the practical projects, there are few dam sites with excellent geologic conditions. With the advancement in science, technology and economy, hydroelectricity is quickly developed. At present the high concrete gravity dam is on a large scale, and the geological condition and stability of the dam become more and more complicated.Aimed at the problem, experiences and research findings in the aspect of anti-sliding stability of the gravity dam are summarized in the paper and systematic research has been performed combined with the example of Jin anqiao concrete gravity dam. Research findings have been the important reference of evaluating anti-sliding.stability of Jin anqiao gravity. The whole paper consists of seven chapters.Firstly the present investigation method of anti-sliding stability of gravity dam both at home and abroad has been presented, and rigid equilibrium limit method, 3D elastoplastic FEM method and partial coefficient method are stated in detail. Safety evaluation methods for anti-sliding stability of the gravity by FEM and the foreground of partial coefficient FEM have been emphatically investigated.All-purpose FEM software ANSYS is utilized to model 3D FEM model for the concrete gravity dam of Jin anqiao. Some subjects are investigated, such as stress and deformation of the gravity dam, possible unstable pattern, breakdown mechanism and corresponding overload degree and strength reserve degree. The research results show that deep and shallow anti-sliding stability of Jin anqiao hydropower gravity satisfies the requirement.Based on the actual project, deep and shallow anti-sliding stability has been systematically researched in the paper. We arrive at some conclusions and put them into use in practical projects and provide the reference to other similar projects.
