Cash sorter, as a sort of financial equipment, is most important part of financial information. With the development of image collecting and processing technologies, they have become the significant means to improve the ability of sorting cash of cash sorter. Image collecting and processing technologies are used to achieve denomination recognition, edition recognition and orientation recognition, and should have characteristics of real-time processing, high speed and high efficiency. By analyzing the deficiency of the cash sorter, combined some advanced theories of the digital image processing, pattern recognition, digital signal processing, this paper brought forward a DSP+FPGA construction, as the image processing hardware subsystem of cash sorter system. The contents of this paper as follows:Analyze the theory and handling process of cash sorter. Introduce sorting means in common use. And especially place emphasis upon analyzing the image collecting and processing subsystem, which have more influence on the sorting speed; Design hardware and software system of image collecting and processing subsystem of cash sorter. First, discuss and prove the feasibility of the image collecting and processing subsystem based on hardware platform. Second, state the software flow corresponding with the working process of image processing subsystem. At last, introduce the image processing arithmetic based on the functions of the cash sorter; optimize the image processing arithmetic according to the experiment data. Results show image collecting and processing subsystem designed can archive good steadiness and high performance. Based on research above, design and develop a prototype of image processing subsystem. Practical application shows this prototype has the high reorganization rate, high speed, real-time characteristics, and has prefect engineering application value.
