Since it can reuse the living and producing waste and it is light in self-weight, high in strength and liquid easily, the lightweight soil mixed with expanded polystyrene (hereafter as LSM-EPS) obtains much attention in the field of geotechnical engineering. Based on laboratory tests, the permeable characteristics of LSM-EPS is studied deeply as follows:(1) The effects of cement ratio, EPS ratio and curing age on permeable characteristics of LWS-EPS are studied by conducting water penneability tests on specimens of variable mixing proportions. Coefficient of permeability decreases with the increasing of cement ratio, curing age and the decreasing of EPS ratio, which have a power function relationship approximately. On the basis of that, a multiple linear regression equation appropriate to the site project was obtained.(2) The influence of cement ratio and EPS ratio on coefficient of permeability is studied on the basis of water permeability tests under different consolidation pressure by triaxial apparatus. The experiential equation was obtained between consolidation pressure and coefficient of permeability.(3) The influence of cement ratio and consolidation pressure on coefficient of permeability are investigated in microscopic view with scanning electron microscope. With the increasing of cement ratio, the proportion of pore decreases and the proportion of particle increases. At the same time, distributing fractal dimension and directional entropy of particle increase and those of pore decrease. When consolidation pressure increases, the proportion, distributing fractal dimension and directional entropy of particle increase.(4) Based on tests with SEM and observing by the optical testing system of microstructure of rock and soil , it is obtained that under consolidation pressure, the inner particle of LSM-EPS will rearrange and the pore will decrease; the shape of EPS beads will change and water will flow to form a path between EPS beads and particles.
