Generation scheduling error is the error between very short term load forecast and the original generation schedule, if the error can be neglected, then the automatic generator control device can automatically make up it; otherwise, if this error can not be neglected, then the power output of the generators must be revised or execute a generator tripping,load-shedding measure, if no proper method is taken, the reliability and stability of the power system will be threatened. Considering the generators bidding prices curves, the generation scheduling error optimization problem is high dimensional , disperse , complex constrained,non-liner problem. In order to carry out on-line computing, the algorithm must be more faster,reliable and high-constringency. Based on the traditional PSO algorithm, this paper proposed a new method named β-PSO algorithm, which use β distribution instead of even distribution, effectively solved the traditional PSO algorithm's difficulty in solving optimization problem with equivalent constraints and in-equivalent constraints. The algorithm's feasibility and validity is validated though Fujian province power grid's numeric example. According to the result analysis, a revised method is given, which improved the algorithm's efficiency and precision. According to those numeric examples, applying the β-PSO algorithm to the on-line generation scheduling error correction is doable and stable.
