With the development of economy, the high-rise building structure system will be more and more complex in order to content the newly functions and architecture purposes, the aseismatic capability of which will be arouse more emphasis. As one effective trial measure, the model shaking table test will become more important in the field of aseismatic capability study on complex high-rise building. There are a good many factors of error in the model shaking table test system. This paper will mainly discuss the dimension error of the model.Most of the shaking table test models are the small-scale models. The performance of the model and the results of the test will be influenced by the errors of the material, formwork, model making method, constructing process. This paper analyses the dimension error of the 1/4 and 1/25 scale shaking table test model. By measuring the actual members of the model, the dimension error distributions were got. On this condition, the courses of the dimension error and the influence on the natural vibration period were analyzed. Also, the difference of the error characteristics between different scale models was studied. Finally, this paper summarized the dimension error of many other model members, and the error due to the simplification of model design and the constructing. And some research orientations of the model dimension error on the shaking table test field have been put out.
