As traditional optical metrological instrument, UTM (universal tools microscope)is high accuracy and stable. It was widely used in precise measurement. With thedevelopment of scientific and technique, digitalized and intelligent precise instrumentare highly required. In this condition, traditional visual UTM is not adaptive and needto be updated. But in the position of user, updating UTM and without modifying itsstructure is best way.In this thesis, the design of auto-reading system of UTM has been well researched.Basied on these reseach, a hardware system with DSP was designed and implementedfor image storing, image processing and data transfer. The software for the systemwas designed also. The performance of the hardware system show that it isminiaturization,high speed and low consumed. It has the vast applied foreground ininstrument realm.The main work of this paper includes:1,Have designed a collectivity project for portable self-reading system of UTM.The principle of system, the project of image processing and other designs areincluded in the project.2,Designed hardware platform for self-reading of UTM. In the platform,TMS320VC5410A was selected as core processor;CCD was adopted foracquisition of image and output analog signal, and CPLD was used for controlof image storing.With the experiment of debugging,the performance of theplatform was validated.3,Based on the characteristics of numeral characters in the view field ofSprial-Reading lens on UTM, image processing alogrithom for auto-readingof measurement result was presented. The alogrithom was programmed byMatlab language. Experiments for self-reading were performed by image grapcard and PC. The results of expeiments show that the precision of measureingsystem is 2μm. In the end, the measureing system was analysed and themethods for improving of system peformance was given.
