The Agricultural God Altar in Beijing is the very spot for emperors to perform sacrifice toXiannong and to perform the Jitian ceremony in the Ming and Qing dynasty. With its deep culturalmeaning, it has high cultural and aesthetic values.In this thesis, by working up how the ancient agriculture effects on the traits of the traditionalChinese culture such as the thinking of emphasis on agriculture, and how how every emperor usedthis ritual to assert his royal authority, and how the agricultural god altar developed before theMing and Qing dynasty, this paper lay emphasis on the reason why this form of altars were passedon as the body of worship culture.Furthermore, on the basis of historical records and site survey, The Agricultural God Altar hasbeen synthetically studied from the aspects of the architectural evolution, the way of layout, thedesign of space and structure, sacrificial rites in history, and it's protection in future. Thus, thevalues of The Agricultural God Altar ,which is the elaborate works in the Chinese ancienttimes ,reconding the history of emperors performing sacrifice to Xiannong and performing theJitian ceremony in the Ming and Qing dynasty, have been profoundly reflected.
