With the rapid development of the economy,our finance and living standard have greatly improved. New technologies are applied in the tunnel. More and more emphases are placed in the use and the construction of the tunnel. Many long tunnels have been completed. Now the dominant current is to make more use of the tunnel to go across the mountain.Highway tunnel is a category of the underground engineering. It is difficult to determine the geological structure character and rock masses'character, which makes the design and construction of the tunnel slope difficult. It is impossible to describe accurately the relation of tunnel slope and rock masses because of the infection in rock masses'geography, support style, structure style, theory mode and account parameters. So, the tunnel slope design is quite different from the reality, and even be defeated.In this dissertation, thanks to artificial neural network's dealing with non-linear complicated relation, artificial neural network is used in highway tunnel slope design , and mainly discuss the input and output preferences, stylebook collection and disposal and how to structure improve BP neural network model. By training and check up of the stylebook, it is feasible to determine the highway tunnel slope design. On the basis of present research consequences,we used the engineering cases to check up the"ANN highway tunnel slope design system", and got a satisfying result.The fruits and the work of research in the thesis as follow:1. The highway tunnel designs are studies to analyze the all factors which influence the tunnel design. Then the dominant factors are made certain and the design samples are collected.2. The training samples and the testing samples is used to establish and train the ANN model whose outputs are accord with the real design. Then the mode is examined in the Lanfeng Tunnel and the Nanhu Tunnel and the ANN design results are compared with the ordinary design results.3. The ANN model is applied in the real tunnel designs and the model is use in the building process so the network can be made perfect.
