Nowadays, the technical development progresses by leaps and bounds, various advanced manufacture technologies emerge one after another incessantly. In many advanced manufactures technologies, reverse engineering technology plays the more and more vital role by its unique superiority in the product development, and becomes one of the modern product development key technologies. Based on reverse engineering technology, product development depends on the prototype or the material object of the product. According to this situation, the advanced measuring technique carried on three dimensional digitized processing to the material object is used first, by means of CAD system and some special software of curved surface reconstruction, reconstructs CAD model of the material object is established, then the product or the prototype is produced according to traditional manufacturing flow. This kind of reverse engineering technology based on the prototype or the material object of product, reduces the product development period enormously, thus has the wide application in product designing and manufacturing, therefore, this topic research has the important theory significance and wide application in engineering practice.This dissertation takes manufacturing industry as the background, takes engineering application of reverse engineering theory in the product development as the research goal, thorough the research about some essential technologies of reverse engineering such as data gathering, CMM system composition and measuring method, curved surface reconstruction and so on. And based on the software platform environment of Pro/E (wildfire), the author has realized an actual application of reverse engineering theory.This dissertation includes following contents mainly:The method of tri-dimensional data acquisition in contact type and non-contact type measuring machine is analyzed.The factors that affect the accuracy of CMM are discussed and the method of reducing this interference is put forward.CMM probe and its measuring increment are selected, and then its measuring track is programmed for reducing measuring errors.Based on the Pro/E, reconstruction method of the freeform surface is put forward and curved surface reconstruction technology is researched.
