Loop closing operation in distribution network is a necessary step of power systemsoperation, but it may generate large circulation flow affecting security and stability of thesystem. To assist the dispatcher with decision-making, software for loop closing operationanalysis is developed. Combined with the real operation, the system can not only judge thepossibility of loop operation, but also provide specific adjustment suggestions when the loopcurrent is over the upper limit. Further more, the proper loop route is put forward to optimizemulti-source power supply network.This paper proposes an improved back/forward sweep algorithm for distribution networkpower flow calculation. Based on the result of power flow calculation, the model of closingloop system for calculating stable state current and impact current is studied detailed, and theerrors of the results are analyzed. The measures of loop closing current regulation is changingthe transformer ratio land the capacitance, which are necessary to change the power flow tocontrol the current in safe range. The application of multi-way power supply pattern results inthe selectivity of loop routes. The branch exchange algorithm was used to reconfigurate thenetwork and chose the proper loop route, and both the supply reliability and the transmissionefficiency will be all improved.
