Study On Online Power Grid Disturbance Identification Method Based On WAMS

With the rapid progress of power grid interconnection throughout the country,the size of power grid is larger and larger, and its structure is also more and morecomplex. The probability of the occurrence of disturbance is increasing and itseffect on power system is severe. Take the short circuit as an example, if it cannotbe handled timely, it will extend around the fault location and even cause blackout.To know the type of disturbance occurred in the power system and suppress itseffect, a WAMS based disturbance identification method is proposed. The main ideaof this method is to justify and locate the major disturbances such as short-circuit,load shedding and loss of generation. Finally, several disturbances simulations aremade on North-China power grid to check the validation of the method presented.
