Conventionally, reinforced-concrete structure is adopted in the large-scale powerplant main plant house in China. While, the adoption of steel structure emerges in therecent ten years. Besides construction cost, comprehensive facts, such as valid usablearea, aseismetic effect and foundation treatment, flexible of general arrangement,construction duration and impact on the environment during construction, shall besystemically analyzed upon the selection of the structure material and structure type.Decisions shall be make on the basis of the general economical evalution.In this essay, main plant house structure types of large-scale power plant at home andabroad are intruducted and the present situation and developemen are described. Themain plant house structures of Tuoketuo Power Plant Phase II&III are introduced asstudy objects. With the same installation capacity of 600MW, steel is adopted in themain plant house structure of Tuoketuo Power Plant Phase II and reinforced concreteis adopted in the main plant house structure of Tuoketuo Power Plant Phase II.Therefore, it is comparable and reliable.Main design principle and technical specifications of main plant house such as loads,structure type are detail studied. The quantities of the project are summed up andcompared according to detail design and accumulation of contractors.Base on these data, cost of different type of underground structure is compared;impact of unit manpower cost and unit steel price on above-ground structure areanalyzed. The sensitive analysis of unit manpower cost show that the steel structurecan be used widely when the unit manpower cost increases greatly in China. After theanalysis of maintainence cost of steel structure main plant house and return value atthe end of life-cycle of the main plant house, full-life cycle economical analysis isstudied with the net present value solution. Coninuously development evaluation ismadeon different type of structure.In the chapter of construction period, based on the data collected from construetionsite and the analysis of the construction plan, doubt is cast on some prevail doutableargumentation on construction plan. It is proposed that boiler and main plant partsboth are the critical path. To the boiler part, the time limit can be guranteed. But to themain plant, it is variable as that the delay can incur the delay of the whole project. InTuoketuo power plant, 30 days delay means loss of 45 million RMB. Under thiscircumstance, adoption of steel structure can reduce the construction period greatly.The importance of structure type selection is proved.In the final chapter, AHP is imported in the main plant house structure typecomparation and selection. Corresponding decision-making models is formed. Aftersysthesis analysis, it is conclude that steel structure is better. The adoption of AHP insolving technical issues takes lead in power industry in China. It is valid attempt andexploration in this field.
