GIS(Gas Insulated Switchgear) is an important equipment in power system, andon-line monitoring of GIS has become a very important research area. Research anddevelopment work on the on-line monitoring of GIS has been carried out by highvoltage apparatus research group of Tsinghua University for many years, and anon-line monitoring system of GIS has been developed. Based on the research anddevelopment results obtained by the group, this thesis focuses on improving thefunction and capability of the on-line monitoring system of GIS. An universal on-linemonitoring equipment with better performance in interoperability, opening,extendibility and stability was developed in this thesis, which will provide a standardhardware platform for GIS on-line monitoring.IEC61850 standard was adopted in the research of on-line monitoring of GISbecause it adapts well to the function's distribution realization of the substationautomation system of the substation, and supports the interoperability of theautomation equipments. Based on IEC61850, the layered and distributed systemframework was designed for GIS on-line monitoring system, in which thejoint-communication mode through CAN (Controller Area Network) and Ethernetwas applied. To meet the interoperability of the monitoring equipment, "redundantinteroperability" design was adopted, and so the communication between differentequipments can be realized through both Ethernet and CAN.The inner framework, the figuration and the size of the on-line monitoringequipment were designed based on universal equipment design standard. The ARMembedded system was used in the communication main-board on which the Ethernetand CAN were extended. The on-line monitoring equipment can communicate withthe server and other equipment through Ethernet or CAN, so that the interoperability,opening, extendibility and stability have been realized.Debug and test of the main-board was the most important work of this thesis.The work was carried out following the sequence of "facing problem—analyzingproblem—solving problem". To test the communication ability of main-board,communication testing through local area network, joint communication testingbetween CAN and Ethernet have been performed. The debug and test results showedthat the main-board can work as design objective and has the capability ofcommunication through Ethernet and CAN.
