The mechanism and response characteristics of the sheet-pile groin under the impact of bore in Qiantang River has not been solved since the application of the sheet pile. Following the in-situ test of bore pressure on the sheet-pile groin, this paper makes a systematic study on the bore pressure and dynamic response of the sheet-pile groin.Firstly, the information of the in-situ test is introduced. Based on the analysis of data which is obtained through the in-situ test, the principle of bore pressure on the sheet-pile groin varied with time and space is disclosed, meanwhile, the pile endogen force is researched.Secondly, the standard k-ε turbulence model and VOF for surface tracking are applied to numerical simulation of the bore against the sheet-pile groin. The numerical results show flow fields, the position of free surface and time history and spatial distribution of bore pressure on the sheet-pile groin. Based on these, parameter studies reveal the influences of the tide-bore height, the propagation speed, the still water level and the structure of the riprap stones.Thirdly, finite difference method is used for the dynamic response analysis of the sheet-pile groin. Good agreement between the in-situ test and the theoretical analysis validates the present approach. Parameter studies reveal the influences of the structural style, the rigidity of the structure and the shearing wave velocity (reflecting the pile-soil stiffness ratio). Finally, by comparing between the constant method, the m method and the finite difference method, the characteristics of different methods are analyzed. The scale of the groin response which is calculated by different methods is also obtained. Meanwhile, the relationships between bore pressure and bore height, groin response and bore height are researched. The conclusions can direct the practical static design in various practical conditions.
