Sheet-pile groin is made by reinforced concrete piles with beams to ensure the integrity of the groin which can improve resistance of groin under tidal bore shocks and ensure the stability of the groin. Sheet-pile groin is applied to the north shore of Qiantang River in Haining seawall engineering segment and plays an important role in river regulation, flood control and siltation. In order to improve the design of sheet-pile groin, it is important to study the distribution of pressure in the Qiantang River tidal bore. Earlier studies were based on test methods, while with the rapid development of computer technology and numerical simulation, combining numerical simulation and experiment combining is becoming an important method of hydraulic characteristics near the groin.1. Flume tests was proceeded at Estuary Institute of Water Resources in Zhejiang Province. The purpose of the test was to compensate for the lack of In situ observation, to coordinate a three-dimensional mathematical model and to carry on a systematic study for the pressure of the bore on sheet-pile groin. Similar model is a basic and starting point of model tests and so as to the model test, so it is necessary to satisfy the motion similar, geometric similarity, dynamic similarity and other conditions. For this test, we use the Froude criteria.2. A three-dimensional numerical model of bore against sheet-pile groin was illustrated in this paper. The governing equations were discredited by the finite volume method, and the Reynolds equations and the RNG κ-ε turbulent model were solved by the pressure implicit splitting-operator method(PISO). By using volume of fluid (VOF) method, the position of free surface was obtained. The model was verified by the flume experiment research with the comparison between the numerical results and experimental data in good agreement. The proposed model had been used to simulate the velocity vectors, free water surface, bore pressure of a groin.3. By studying a large number of single and double groins examples, we discussed water permeability, the initial level and the height of the bore, respectively and got the conclusions:For single groins, we got the regulation of the pressure for water permeability, the initial level and the height of the bore. For double groins, we studied systematically the influence of the water permeability, the initial level, the height of the bore and the space for downstream groins. It is best to get the regulation of the pressure in different conditions and to provide technology for actual projects.
