Along with the popularization of the vehicle, the requirement for the vehicle becomes higher and higher. The favorable handling stability performance is required as well as the favorable economical performance and power performance. The handling stability of a vehicle is one of the important characters that have effect on the active safety performance of vehicle, therefore, it is always an important subject that how the handling stability performance is researched and evaluated to gain a favorable active safety performance.First, a simulation model of a saloon car's front suspension system is established by using the software general module ADAMS/View, and kinematics simulation analysis is carried out, optimal design analysis is made for some parameters which do not perform dissatisfactory during the simulation. On the basis of these results, the virtual prototyping model of the full car is established, including the front suspension system, the rear suspension system, the steering system, the front tire system, the rear tire system and the body system. The handling stability is analyzed, mainly the steering transient response test of steering wheel step input, the steering transient response test of steering wheel angle pulse input, return-ability test, steady static circular test and central steering test are carried out. With those test, how the front suspension system can influence the handling and stability performance is investigated. At last, a virtual proving ground is built based on OpenGL, with this work the virtual experiment may be carried out next.
