Prestressed concrete pipe has been used broadly in building, highway, railway and port projects since the seventies of the twentieth century, due to high capacity to bear weight, good pile quality, nice adaptability to all kinds of condition and rapidness to construction. The end of prestressed concrete pipe pile is joined with base slab through the core concrete. The moment beanring capacity of common prestressed concrete pipe pile is relative poor in horizontal earthquake action, which limit the range of use of prestressed concrete pipe pile. The two specimens of common prestressed concrete pipe pile and the one with core concrete were tested to investigate their moment load-carrying capacity as well as ductility capacity.Based on the test, the theoretical analysis were carried out on the influences of core concrete to pile end.Based on the experimental studies and theoretical analyses, the moment design method of core concrete was provided for practical application in this paper. All these had made up for the up-to-date design method of prestressed concrete pipe pile and supported the technical reference to perfect standard design of prestressed concrete pipe pile.
