With the development of our country's economy, there are more types of electrical comsumer and the electrical load becomes much more complicated. It directly caused the deterioration of the Power Quality in Grid. For example, there are all kinds of disturbances like Voltage Swells, Sags, Fluctuation, Harmonics and Transients in the Power System. These disturbances not only have negative impact on sensitive devices, but also bring much energy losses, which is regarded as inacceptable in nowadaysLighting System is a kind of typical victim system of power quality problems. For one thing, the voltage swells, sags, fluctuation or harmonics may cause the light pollution, such as dazzling, weak lighting and bright flashes. For another thing, the lamps may comsume superfluous energy due to an overvoltage. Since the lighting systems in the world comsume about 20% of the total electrical energy, we could find a huge space for energy saving in those systemsUninterruptible Dynamic Voltage Restorer (UDVR) is a good method to resolve those power quality problems mentioned above. It could compensate the grid voltage swells, sags, fluctuation or harmonics and provide the loads a pure, standard sine voltage wave. Intelligent Energy Saver for Lighting System is a special UDVR system, which is developed due to the requirement of reducing input voltage in lighting system. This Dissertation conducts an extensive and deep research on UDVR system, Intelligent Energy Saver for Lighting System and the Delta Inverter technology, which is thought of the fundamental and key technology of a UDVR system.In the first chapter, the background of the project is described. The power quality problems and the development of power quality control technology are discussed in detail in the following section. The development of Delta Inverter is also reviewed.In the second chapter, the main circuit, control methods and related technologies of Delta Inverter are discussed. Three methods of signal detection are also introduced.The third chapter gives a specific introduction of UDVR, including main circuit and its principle, based on which an implementation of the UDVR system with specally designed control strategy is proposed and simulated.Based on the research of UDVR in chapter three, an Intelligent Energy Saver for Lighting System with a novel six switches AC-DC-AC circuit is presented in chapter four. This chapter also proposes a control algorithm for the new circuit topology and conducts a simulation in Matlab/Simulink and an experiment of the whole system.The paper is summarized at the end.
