| The main content is the site selection of tide lock in Huangpu River. The research includes the port and dock yard's planning, the geological analysis, the aseismic evaluation and the relocation investigation in the engineering area. The site of tide lock is determined primarily. The request about planning area is advanced for building the tide lock. The main conclusions in the thesis were summarized as follows:(1) The tide lock in Huangpu River is the important engineering for controlling flood in Shanghai. It is also advantaged for Tai Lake drainage area. Its main effects include preventing tide and salt water, satisfying the shipping and controlling flood and water quality.(2) The shipping is not neglected in building tide lock. The site should be content to the safety of shipping. The tide lock should be near the estuary in the regular bank, if the influence to Shanghai Harbor is less.(3) The researches about harbor reach of Shanghai and the bank utilizing indicate that the harbor reaches and dock yards except container terminal in Zhanghua bank and Jungong Street will be relocated to Yangtze Estuary and Hangzhou Bay. Based on flood protection and the bank utilizing, the site of tide lock should be in the headwater of Jungong Street. The anchorage ground in the regular bank is ideal.(4) According to argumentation about geological stability, geotechnical characters, hydrograph and geologic hazard, Jungong Street and Forest Park are the best sites. The anchorage ground and Wusong Park take second place.(5) On the basis of seismic factor, everywhere is safety. According to stability of foundation and distribution range of soil, the site should be more near the downstream. So the ideal site is between Zhanghua bank and marine product port.(6) Comprehensive analysis shows that the anchorage ground is the best site in Huangpu River. It is in the first regular bank and its influences to the shipping are much less.
