In this paper, based on the current study focus of international earthquake engineering, the theory of vibration control is adopted to analyze the response of the engineering structure under the earthquake excitation. Simultaneously, the control technology is of important engineering practice. The equipment can reply to the earthquake rapidly and automatically. It has good endurance function, which can serve for about 70 years longer than the request of 50 years of service life in public buildings. Therefore, this control method will be applied widely in practice. This paper mainly deals with the aspects as below:1 .The finite element method of ETABS is adopted to analyze a frame building, in which the number of the floors (4F,6F, 8F,10F), the conditions of geology are taken as variable. The responses of the frame structure, such as the story drift and rotation at these different conditions are obtained under earthquake excitation and other loading, which can be reference to the experimental study in the future.2.On the basis of the study of a 10-story building, six groups of the placement of the damper are used in time-history dynamic analysis. By contrasting the six different results, the influencing rules of the placement of the damper on the seismic response of the structure can be concluded.3.By contrasting the results of the frame with damper or not, the detailing requirements and the optimum design method of viscoelastic damper are also given for the guidance of engineering design and practical application.
