Research On Teahouse Space Of Chengdu

Teahouse is one of the most important and indispensable public place of Chengdu people's daily life, full of comprehensive social significance. As an architectural space, teahouse provides people a place to relax, chat and satisfies people's requirements. As a kind of culture form, teahouse embodies the regional and folk custom of Chengdu. As a carrier of culture spreading and handing down, teahouse becomes a medium and acts as a bridge for communication between the local people and the aliens. With the help of relative theories of folklore, psychology and place, this thesis advanced a new and synthetic conception of Chengdu teahouse. After recalling the rough process of Chinese teahouse briefly, this thesis induced and summarized the teahouse type and its space character, converted to discuss the user of the teahouse, emphasizing on the relationship between the space and the people. The study on the influence in people's behavior, psychology and act resulted from teahouse space and the people's demands to teahouse space are fixed much attention in this thesis.Finally, this thesis interpreted the deep meaning of Chengdu teahouse, based on which the author introspected modern designs and pointed out some problems.This thesis may be treated as collection and arrangement of Chengdu teahouse, whose information will be conserved and recorded as materials in the form of words and pictures in order to enlighten the architectural designers in a way.
